I put this lobo in my tank about a month ago. Since then it has been deteriorating.
I'm running 2x175w mh w/ 4x 22w actinic t-5's.
water quality checks out great

Welcome to RC!
We're neighbors- I'm in Spencerport.
Are you aware of the Upstate Reef Society? We have a forum on RC.

As for your Lobophyllia- what exactly are the levels of calcium and alkalinity at in your aquarium? Do you test for anything else? (Any levels you can share with us will help us help you save the coral.)
What do you mean by 'deteriorating'? Can you describe the problem in more detail or post a picture?
Lastly- what fishes do you have in the aquarium?

Here is a pic of my brain. (in any since thats not funny!:p )

As for levels in the tank ca and alk look low, but the test i have i don't think is very reliable.

As for fish, the only fish that i think would give it a problem is my maculosis angel

He only picked the first day it was in the tank, and he hasn't touched it since. He's like that, i've put other corals in, (mushrooms, green digis, leathers, anemones, star polyps) he'll pick i think just to find out what it is and then leave it alone.

Two glaring problems that I see from here:
the need for accurate and reliable test kits AND that Angelfish.

I've kept a lot of Angelfish with a lot of different corals over the years and meaty type open brain corals are number one on their hit list when they get hungry.
Nice fish, BTW.
I think you should introduce yourself in the URS forum.
I used to play out regularly (sax and guitar). Do you know Rocco (from Holley)?

BTW- that coral wasn't a Lobophyllia. It was a Symphyllia

Obviously it doesn't look good but don't give up yet. Make sure it's getting some current, but don't blast it, and give it time. Definitely get a reliable test kit because that brain needs a good calcium level--well, it obviously needs good levels period. But it really does need its calcium.

to be sure its not the angel, try putting a strawberry basket over it for a few weeks. The basket allows flow and light in but the angel should not be able to get to it.

If you are not already doing it I would start feeding it regularly to give it the energy to hopefully repair itself.
