Help me stock my 150g DD Cube

Hey all,

I'm looking for some advice on what else to put in my 150g DD cube (36"x36"x27"). A little background on the tank - it is currently about 8 months old and is going to be mostly an SPS tank with a few lps and zoas. The tank is fairly open with lots of space for swimming and coral growth. I have a 1" sand bed of Caribsea Special Grade (larger particles) with probably 100-150 pounds of live rock. Current flow is two MP40w ES at 100% Tidal Swell Mode and a Tunze 6065 (1700gph). The tank is currently open top with two 120w value LED fixtures suspended above, but I do have BRS netting to make a fish-saver top for it eventually.

Current Tank inhabitants include:
Coral Beauty Angel
Pair of Ocellaris Clowns
5 Lyretail Anthias (recently added)
Skunk Cleaner Shrimp


Possible additions considered:
Wrasses - any recommendations on nice ones that aren't too expensive?
Ctenochaetus tang of some sort (kole/bristletooth/etc) - is the tank too small for these?
Firefish
I would love to do a jawfish (my favorite fish), but I don't think I have enough sand for them to be happy.

I am trying to keep the tank fairly peaceful, but I would like lots of movement in it - it looked pretty empty with just my clowns and coral beauty in it initially. Any recommendations/thoughts on what I have or what would be good to add would be appreciated. Thanks all. :thumbsup:

A Tomini tang would work well for your tank, as far a wrasse go for your tank someone with more experience with them will have to answer. The flasher wrasse I had committed suicide

The kole or tomini should be fine in the tank, I have a kole and he is a great fish.

Firefish would be a nice addition, I currently have a red and Helfrichi. If you are willing to spend the money, the Helfrichi is a beautiful fish and mine never hides. If you don't want the Helfrichi I personally would go with a purple

I think you are correct with not enough sand for a jawfish

What about a nother dwarf angel, lost of great ones to chose from

+1 on the tomini tang.

I also agree that you probably don't have quite enough sand for a jawfish, and it also limits your wrasse selections. There are some nice, bold fairy wrasses out there that are less than $100. You can check out Scott's, orange back, and Solon fairies.

Not near enough sand for a jawfish, so I'd skip that.

Firefish should work so long as it is added before you add a wrasse. Firefish are quite shy by nature and a fairy or flasher wrasse could make introduction difficult.

For a wrasse, stick with a fairy or flasher wrasse as they won't require a sand bed to hide in at night. Virtually any flasher species will work, and I think most are quite affordable. Fairy wrasses are good as well. You can get flame or rhomboid fairy wrasses for a great price from PIA if you like them but the price tag scares you. Other than that I'd suggest browsing over LA and BZ in there wrasse section to see what you like and can afford.

There is a white tail bristle tooth juv tang that will be on DD today, if you wanted something different and smaller (5") for your tank.
