help me take the confusion out of snails!!!

Most of our reef snails are from the turbin family ??? As in trochus, astrea,collonista, and margarita snails is this correct?

Most of the algae grazers are in the superfamily Trochoidea, including all those you mentioned. Not all of them are in the actual Turban family though (Turbinidae). There are a few grazers in totally different families, e.g., cowries, fissurellids, and columbellids.

And these snails can have species in not just tropical waters but also cooler waters?
