Help me with a Tunze wavebox and streams.

My new tank will be a custom ELOS that is 48"x31.5"x24"

It will have a center overflow to minimize changes in water level with a wavebox.

I was thinking of placing a Nanowavebox in the middle of the right wall and 2-3 controllable nanostreams?, Streams? in what locations?

Also, how does the streams interface with the wavebox without interfering with the wave?

Thanks in advance!

As long as a Stream is not aimed directly into the wavebox output the interference is minimal. You can try a few Nano wavebox positions to find what is easiest to conceal and works best, typically back wall aimed to the front will work but the wave will be a bit lopsided and shorter, high and low in diagonal corners. It is easy to conceal this way though so it is worth a try. I am not sure on your timeline, if you have until September the upcoming 6095 would be ideal, otherwise I think 2 6105 at 12V or 3 6055 would be the way to go.

Hmm...the 6095 sure seems intriguing.

I'm pretty committed to the wavebox being in the center of the right wall to take advantage of the 48" length of tank and also to minimize variations in water level at the center overflow.

So, since this will be a SPS dominated tank, how many 6095s do you think would be best?

Also, the 6095 is controllable?

6095 is controllable, for all practical purposes imagine a 6055 with 2650gph of flow from a nozzle that is over 2" in diameter. 2 would be ideal.

Okay then.

A nanowavebox on the right wall and 2 6095's located on the back wall? Back and right wall next to the wavebox?

Thanks!

Typically you would place each pump in the back corners aimed just short of the diagonal corner and alternate them at 6 hour intervals.

^^^Got it.

Would it be worth it to get a controller and alternate the flow more frequently? Also, will the streams interfere with the wave?

Thanks Roger for your patience.

Any controller will be able to switch at a faster interval, however we recommend 6 hrs as that is roughly the interval of the tides and many corals struggle to feed with greater turbulence. The pump that is on can be pulsed between two speeds. A Stream opposite the wavebox will slightly decrease the wave, but not much, aimed directly at the wavebox however it will have a greater effect.
