Help my clownfish!

I can't figure out what this is. I took it with my cell phone so it's not a great picture. I have him in a quarantine tank and he seems to be getting worse each day. He isn't eating anymore either.

The picture isn't great but it looks like something ate away at his gill.

I don't think so. I just moved my tank in August to a new home and started fresh with dry rock and new sand.

How often do you check for ammonia in your QT? If you don't have any LR in that tank, you'd have to do water changes daily to keep ammonia under control. Also, filtration and aeration matters. Sometimes fish dies in QT not because of the original illness but because of worse conditions compared to the DT.

I haven't checked ammonia in a few days, I'll test when I get home but there is some live rock in there. Thanks for the help, I never thought of it that way. My display tank is a palace compared to the quarantine but the other fish seemed to be bullying him a bit.
