Help!! my mushroom rock is an oyster bed I think!!!

I got a nice new mushroom rock a few days ago and couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the whole top of the rock move suddenly!!! very spooooky! On closer inspection I saw what I assume must be two or more bivalves (I can only assume oysters??) in the top part of the rock! If they weren't opening and closing slightly I wouldn't know that they were not actual rock. They only open up to about 1mm (less than 1/8 inch)
So I'd really like to know if they are oysters and if so how can I keep them alive? Both for their own sake and because they're quite large and I'm afraid they'll pollute the tank if they die.....
This is the whole rock:

This a close-up of the top of the rock (also baby brittle star legs in front of open oyster)

very cool.. i had something like that on my sun coral rock.. no idea what it is though, and nowhere near that big.

I just had that happen to me a few weeks ago. I acclimated my mushrooms and when I put the 'rock' in the tank, it snapped at me.:) I took a pic and it was labeled a jewelbox oyster. I have been feeding the tank phtyo to keep it alive. So far, so good. I was also told that they don't last long in the hobbyist tank but if, when, it does die, it wouldn't cause much of an ammonia spike at all.

Feed phytoplankton before the lights come on or after they go off. This will increase microlife of all sorts as well as feed these bivalves.

i have a bunch of oysters in my tank they never bother anything and havnt had a problem with die off. Do you add phyto to your tank?

Yes I started adding phyto quite recently--not quite sure how often I should do it--doing ti once a day at present...

thats wierd, I had the same thing when I bought a colony of mushrooms... Didnt know it was a large oyster instead of a rock till one day a few months ago it started to snap. shocked me to death! haha.
