Help need interceptor fast!

Hi Guys, I have all my acros QT'd in a 8g tank right now. It's running with a heater, a maxijet 900, 24watt PC bulb, and a tunze nano filter. One of my acros has a ton of red bugs, the others have none. But what the heck, I'm treating all of them.

The problem is, i ordered interceptor and it won't get in until next week =X. Does anybody have a dose of interceptor I can pickup tomorrow, somewhere near Berkeley, and I'll drop off the same amount to you when I get mine in?

I want to do this ASAP since that 8g tank isn't the best place to keep SPS. It does have a ton of LR in it, and plenty of flow, and the LR was from my established tank...

How long does interceptor take to kill red bugs? Do they live on other coral too or only acros? Should I also treat all my rock etc?

Thanks!!

I actually just decided to get off my lazy mouse, and search for some info on redbugs.

Apparently 60 hours will kill them, but it will also kill all your other animals that have no blood/brain barrier.

So I will place the acros in a bucket for an hour with interceptor, then rinse, and place into the 8g tank
I'll dose that 8g Qtank with interceptor as well, and wait 5 days for any other redbugs in my frag tank to die off.

Then dip them again in interceptor and TMPCC and then replace into my frag tank =) Hopefully that'll do it!

If you want to pick up a tab from me I'm in Hayward.

I havent done a treatment in over a year but I think the recommended was an 8 hour treatment without your skimmer running and no carbon. Then do a 20% water change and run carbon. The treatment should be done twice more, but I'm not sure how long after the first.

It's recommended to treat the whole tank since the bugs can move onto other corals, refugium, or rocks. Sucks since you'll want to remove your inverts (hermit crabs, shrimp, etc.) or risk losing them.

If you need chaeto I can get you some after the treatments also.

hey nasotang, that'd be awesome!

if I can't find any others closer, I'll definitely give you a visit =)

I'm going to be removing the acros into my QT and then treat them there for 5 days. Apparently, red bugs can't live without an acropora for more than 3 days, but 5 days to be safe. So my frag tank should be good =/ If not I'll treat again in the 8g tank for 2 weeks, and keep going until they're gone. I hope my acros will survive.

Ill send you a PM!

Kinetic, do a double dose and treat your whole tank for 12 hours, 1 treatment is all you need. If you want to save your crabs and shrimps, then put then in a separate tank during the treatment and dont put them back in until after the big water change/carbon

I think I'm going to stay away from treating the whole tank. I'm just going to keep the acros and I guess some euphilya in a QT for 5 days that's running interceptor, and wait for the redbugs to starve in the 40g. It's said that they only last 3 days without an acropora, so 5 days should be good enough.

I think it'd take longer for me to get the interceptor out of my frag tank, so that I can replace my inverts, than if I just took out my corals and put them into the qt tank.
