I gave it about 2 hours to remove itself. I did help it a little bit. Lucky for me, the foot was not damaged at all.

Here it is back in the tank.

About a week later,

Let it come out by its self. If you take it out, you will do more damage.
good luck,

second that may recover may not

You should be able to put it back in the tank, but maybe try to keep the powerheads off till it finds a spot. You can guide it toward a rock with a large plastic spoon or other utensil and hold it there till it grabs on, then keep an eye on it. If it doesn't grab on, you may need to set up a hospital tank to keep it "quiet" till it can recover - otherwise it'll be floating around stinging stuff and maybe getting caught in something else.

If my experience is any indication, nems are pretty resilient - the RBTA I have took 4 trips through my CPR overflow before it finally found a spot it liked - and then my b/w ocellaris found it a short time later. That was a few months ago and peace has reigned on the reef since. :D

I had this problem with my old RBTA. It got sucked into my powerhead and tore it up pretty bad. It was about 9" across before this happened and after it healed, he was only 2". Moral, don't pull him out. I didn't know about this site when I started this but it would've saved most of my anemone. Now, I got a huge green BT and it has split twice so I have 3. Too many as I only need one for the clowns. Oh well, they look cool :D
