Help - New Bulb Anemone deflated tentacles

Is this a normal thing for a bulb anemone to look rather the deflated (the tentacles)? Its only been in the tank for about 1.5 hours and I took about 30 minutes to acclimate.

The anemone does look little better though (just looked at it).

Basically is this common for this kind of anemone to deflate as it acclimates to its surrounding?

Yes, they are sensative to any changes, especially shipment and will deflate very quickly.

Once it gets used to the tank it should be nice and expanded.

I just got a BTA recently also..... while I was acclimating it shriveled up to about 3 inches in diamater. After placing it in the tank, it slowly opened up and for the rest of the day and night was sensitive to any change, even the lights turning off.

But yeah its normal, , just needs a little time to get used to the tank and settle in.

Sounds like normal behavior to me. However, I usually acclimate mine a little longer, usually at least an hour, drip method. Not sure what everyone else does.

Don't think False Percula will host in BTA

I just read that False Perculas don't host in BTA anemones. Is this true though?

In an other thread I read that I could use a piece of PVC piping and place the bottom in there so it won't walk around anywhere and stay where I wanted. It worked for him, but is it recommended that we force an anemone to stay somewhere it does not want to be?

For the mean time, I place in the sand near a over-hanging rock. Do they like partial shade (meaning some part of their body in the sahde while the rest in light?

The kind that I got is a Bulb Tip (whiteish/pinkish with a blue dot at the tip of each tentacle.

I have also read that when an anemone dies its pretty bad for a tank because it spews out a bunch of waste. If (or when) my anemone dies, what are the immediate factors I will observe before it dies. I ask this so could respond with ample time. I know that it was deflated earlier and that this is normal, but whats not normal for an anemone. I am currently reading through the Host Anemones - All You Ever Wanted to Know thread (so maybe I will get to know the answer there.

I'm not convinced you have a bubble/bulb tip anemone. Do you have a pic? As with any anemone, when you mention whiteish, I have to consider that it might be bleached. The blue dot at then end of the tenticle suggests to me that it might not be a Bulb Tip. But I have been wrong before.

I would have to agree. I've never seen a BTA with a blue dot at the end of its tentacles. Also, they don't anchor in sand, but like a crack inbetween rock they can hide their foot in.

Which develop a dot at the tips?

I just responded to your other thread, but wanted to let you know that these kind are usually sand/bottom dwellers, not usually happy on rocks. We have one, as well as a pair of false percs, and they love our sebae. They can grow quickly too when they're happy. Ours is in a 30 gal and soon the tank will be almost a species tank!

I've been cautioned about expecting a false perc to host a bta, it's not impossible, but it's not a sure thing either.
