HELP! new Tunze Osmolator Problem

Help please.

I bought a new in box Tunze Osmolator from a fellow reefer and it has some big issues:

1. it continue to keep the pump on even after the water level is well over the sensor, about 5 inch over!

2. Even the green light is on, the pump light is also on too?

3. I tried the wash the sensor with soappy water as advised by other people (because it is too new?), it does not help at all.

It almost flooded my tank twice.

Also, it came with a pump that is 12V only, not the bigger one that has the switch of 9V and 12V.

I have another Osmolator working fine for 2 years.

Is the 5017 controller near any form of magnet (ballast, large pump, magnet holder or cleaner)? We have used a few transformers over the years. I can't recall a 12V only, we have used a switchable 3-12, switchable 9-12, 9V only and the most recent is a 10V electronic power supply. Beyond that the unit would have to be sent in to figure out what is going on but I don't think the 12V would be the culprit.
