they guys..im new to this site so i thought i would give this a try..i have had my long tentical bulb anemone for about a month and my marron clown fish took to it within the first 5 min of it being in the tank...

well i guess my question is this..

i just noticed that his tenticals are getting a little smaller..and reddish stuff is coming out of his mouth..i dont know if this is normal. or is this is there way of going to the bathroom. he was doing perfectly fine today..and now he is almost back to normal. i was just wondering whats going on. the stuff coming out looks sticky as well...hopefully you guys know whats going on!

thats what i thought..but is it normal for it to go sorta limp..and the tenticals get smalller?

also i have been feeding him 3-4 times a week..what do you think? do you think thats good enough or should i switch it off to every other day?

ok cuz i have been just giving him a chunck of squid that comes in the packet..he seems to eat it fairly quickly..im gonna be getting the silverslides or whatever those fish are sometime this week. and the people at my LFS also told me bloodworms would be ok too..what do you think about that? the fish seem to like them too..i dont feed them that often but when i do they love them

bloodworms are for freshwater only anybody wheo feeds it in a reef is wrong

Bloodworms are not only freshwater and they do make a good choice in food for many fish, but I don't feed them in my tanks. Heck, people feed beef heart to marine fish...when's the last time you seen a fish in the wild chomping on beef heart? Garlic is not found naturally in their foods, but is a great immune builder, color builder, amazing additive. Not everything that is good for you is available in your location...same thing with fish and anems.

Actually, MOST mysis shrimp that you feed your tanks are freshwater mysis. Higher protein and easier to find.

i feed freshwater mysis they are different.
bloodworms are odd food for the aquarium the skins can be hard to digest for some small fish
i know that i feed food with carrots in it so im not saying nothing unnatural can go in a tank i just dont like bloodworms specifically

Not to mention the bloodworm's teeth...if i'm thinking of the right bloodworm, they are found in saltwater mud flats, but they've got a set of nasty teeth that could probably do some damage.

I don't want to get flamed here, but I think once a week feeding is enough. Small bites, maybe 2 or 3, once a week. Nem will still grow and be happy. Works for mine.

I agree that for clowns and anems, bloodworms are not the best choice...especially with the dozens of other things that would be better.

i dont feed them bloodworms everyday but i have been feeding the same ones bloodworms once a week for about a year and they are doing wonderful. but who knows..i guess different things work for different people. i dont feed it to the anemone. i thought about it..but i never did. thanks for all the help!
