Help - No Power for Two More Days

Great to hear that her family has some light and warmth and her tank is goin to make it. Big respect to Steve..great looking out.

WTG Steve!

You are the MAN!

That is a great story... I can't believe they stayed up all night warming water on the fire and stirring every 15 minutes! That is awesome! :eek1:

I was thinking that it would be a nice and supportive gesture to help steve out with some Gas $$'s for the drive to Nevada City in his GAS GUZZLING van. Most of us couldn't help out physicaly, but I'm thinking most of us could throw a few buck his way to help out. No reason why he should encur "all" the cost associated with being a nice guy. I'm sure Steve would never request or even suggest we do this, but i'm also sure it would be appreciated!

PM me for his PAYPAL account. I sent a couple ducks his way a few minutes ago.

heheh thanks!!
Please don't feel obligated to send anything!!! It's not that big of a deal.

NEW NEWS: Well, gave a call this evening to see how it was going, and power is actually back up for them!!! She said the power lines are still draped across the road?!?!? So they must be backfeeding the lines around the mess I guess. Which is great news!!!!

I guess she did get her computer back up the other night but alas no internet yet. I forgot to ask what they use (DSL, CABLE)? So I'm assuming cable and the lines that are all over the road had cable on them so..
:(

But all is doing well, official report: NO fish Loss and Coral loss is not yet known, but so far nothing is dead, just struggling a bit.

So that's the word from up north!!
Hurray!!!

I am rather disappointed in Steve. The Steve I know would have have strung new powerlines. And while he's at it, he would have rewired the whole house. Very disappointed. ;-)

Thanks, Thanks, Thanks!

Thanks, Thanks, Thanks!

I now have internet as well as electricity.

Steve, his wife and very cute baby have gone far beyond what can be expected. I was in complete shock when he said he was going to drive a generator all the way up here. Driving into a snowstorm, no less!

Steve told me to buy a 5 gallon gas can and fill it while he drove up. They got here before I was able to locate 3 small gas cans (all shelves were empty). As I was standing in line with my load of gas cans the guy behind me asked if I had a generator. I told him that someone was bringing one up for me from Sac. The person in front of me turned and said that's the kind of thing only good old friends would do. When they found out that this person barely knew me they were dumbfounded.

I met Steve's family in town, Steve filled the back of my car with the generator and his toolbox, and we all piled in. We drove to my house where Steve hooked the generator up while my son enjoyed playing with the baby. (My daughter was bummed that she was at work and missed out on the baby time.)

Steve checked that everything was running fine and instructed us on wiring and generator 101 before preparing to make the trip back down the hill. Next time you guys come up this way, we'll go out for dinner.

We continued to heat water on the stove to bring up the temperature of the under-the-house sump and refugium. It took until 12:40AM to raise it from 50 to 77. I connected the system, returned the starfish to their home, and went to bed for a long and worry-free rest. No more 'round the clock heating and stirring.

Just so you all know how wonderful my husband is, he took full responsibility for the tanks for the 4-9AM shift. He made me get some sleep. My daughter held lights so I could see and my son carried water. It was a full family effort.

I have always had faith in humanity. Now I have more. Angela is going to grow up to be a wonderful person. She has two parents who are setting a great example for her to learn from.

It is nice to know that we have such a supportive club---you guys are the greatest. All it took was one call to Brian and the wheels of the club began to turn. Thanks, Thanks, Thanks!

That is just awesome. I don't really know Steve that well either. But it always seems like he is helping someone. Either drilling a tank or is always giving away Free Cheato. He is deifnetly someone his daughter will be proud of.

I believe he is a man of Faith and leads by example and goes out of his way to help people and from what i can tell he never seems to ask for anything in return.

Many props to you Steve!

I can personally attest to Steve's most generous nature and as always, a shining example of what it is to be a good person and a great asset to our Board. That is what makes MARS great to me - no matter how much we do not agree on trivial things such as lighting, carbon, skimming, etc. - you can count on your reef geek friends to be there for you when you need them. Thanks to Brian as well for manning the Bat Signal - hehe, or is it a fish symbol?

I have met many folks in the club personally who I feel share some of the same selfless traits, and I thank you for it. Good to have you back Rachelle!
