Help on UV flow rate

I just got a 9w uv inline. The type you either run your main line through or like I wanna do you throw a pump on one end and the water come out the other end or in tank sump ect. It is rated 900gph max flow recomended 250 to 350. So my ? Is what is better for uv slow flow fast flow?

For a 9w, I wouldn't push more than 200gph through it, less would be better. A unit that small needs all the contact time it can get to do much of anything.

That's what I was thinking to fast doesn't give it time to work. Thanks
