Help! Pectinia is losing flesh

Hi everyone,

I have had this pectinia coral for about 6 months now and it was doing great until about 2 months ago when it rapidly lost tissue on one side. I can't tell if it has gotten worse since then, if it has it has been getting worse very slowly, but it definitely has not repaired itself. It is placed at the bottom of my tank in a low to moderate flow area. Parameters have been steady. All other LPS and SPS doing great. Any ideas what could be wrong?

Parameters:
150g display (5x2x2)
30g sump
3 AI sol blu leds (70% power for 6 hours per day)
Alk: 8.3
Calc: 440
Mag: 1350
Temp: 79
Salinity: 1.025
Nitrates: 10-25
Phos: .03-.1
Ammonia: 0
Nitrites: 0

Here is a picture.

10-25 nitrate seems like an awfully wide range and pretty high for most coral. My space invader did that for a while after a spell of salinity swings. Might want to check that your refractometer is calibrated

"2 months ago when it rapidly lost tissue on one side."

first check to see if any corals are bothering it -

second check your lighting make sure all the bulbs are working properly sometimes like my AI HYDRA 26 one puck was not following the schedule and wrecked my tank -

nitrates and stuff dont worry too much about it mine where at like 50 or higher for 6 months or more

lastly i would dip the coral - make sure the solution is mixed correctly or a lil bit watered down the coral has lots of exposed flesh you dont want to shock the coral into receding more.

hope something helps you - if its a colony it will most likely survive

pretty sure theres a thread out there that shows the colony i has it was HUGE -

Thanks for the input. Lights are working well and there is nothing close by that could harm the pectinia. I'll try dipping it and see if there is any improvement.
