Help! Peppermint Shrimp attacking Frogspawn!

I picked up a Frogspawn today and after acclimating and dipping in iodine, I added it to my tank. I have three peppermint shrimp to control aiptasia (which they do a really good job of) and they went nuts and started attacking the Frogspawn. They were sticking they're little feelers all though it and I even saw a couple of pieces fly off to my horror. They've since calmed down and seem to be leaving it alone. I know these shrimp will often pick at dead or dying material. Could this have been the case? Were they just picking at some dead tissue? Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks!

Why did you dip it in iodine? Was there something wrong with it?

Just preventative measures to kill hitchhikers. Used Lugol's solution.

Well things seem back to normal now. The Forgspawn is starting to really open up and the pepperment shrimp are ignoring it. There must have been some dead tissue on it. That or they wanted to "sample" the addition.
