HELP PH just keeps dropping

I need to get a mag test kit, oneof my other test kits came in today. Tested GH and KH, KH was 8, and KH well thats a weird one; is it for fresh water or something? I tested it and 50 drops later it never went even remotely green. Did this test twice, this would put GH already past 250% of the chart. Was thinking GH is more for fresh though. As stated working on mag. kit.

I wouldn't buy a test kit for Mag, just take it in to your LFS and have them do it. It doesn't hurt to have them double check the results of the kits you already have.

A dKH of 8 is good.

That it GH is not a salt test, I cant get a local store to test for anything outside the basic ammona, nitrite, nitrate, ph. Curious is there an actual kit to test co2?

gh and kh are related directly calc is on my website if you want to see... anywho your kh is only 8 because you calcium is at 560.... soooo you want to get your kH to more like 11 and your calcium down to like 450. Use a better buffer then kent marine or whatever you are using bulk reef supply has a lot of options on there i would say like their two part soda ash would help... higher kH will hold your ph more steady and bring it up. crushed coral substrait is also a more permanent and effective way of keeping your ph at 8.

ozone is unstable oxygen - o3 - it attaches to free floating proteins first and then anything else that it can (actually if you can smell it in your house your probably eating your mucus membraines) thus it will make your water crystal clear and also remove some extra organics - most people notice their skimmer produces less skimate when running ozone because so much is destroyed when its set properly. they work great in short (but not to raise ph)

Like it was said above i wouldnt artificially buffer your ph that much in a day thats realllly bad for the fish. technically your fish would be fine if the ph kept dropping because at about 6 the ph becomes so low the ammonia becomes non toxic and the fish in there will continue to be just fine unless you have a blue tang, tried to add new fish, or used a test kit you would never know.

I would do water changes - with not RO/DI just carbon sediment filtered water much more stable cheaper and faster :) and make sure your not overfeeding your fish and get make sure you have a real good skimmer with that many big fish - lettuce produces a lot of organic waste
