Help Pick the Skimmer for my 75G

Hello,

I currently have a EuroReef CS6-2 with a Sedra 5000 skimmer in my 75 with a RS-200 sump (90 to 95 gallons of total volume). The skimmer is nice, but it is pretty loud and large and best of all my setup is right next to my bed. So far I have been looking at several models under $250. My goal is to have a quiet skimmer which will pull good gunk. Right now my plumbing is quieter with my 75 then my biocube 29 is. :eek1::D

Models that interest me:

SWC 150 BMK
Reef Octopus 150
Bubble Magus NAC7

Any opinions are appreciated.

I'd like to get something this week since my cycle just ended and fish will go in later next week. Then I can try to recoup some of my costs with the sale of my original.

Thanks,

Jacob

I have the Reef Octopus NWB150, it's pretty quiet. You can hear the air intake but only slightly. I read that you can silence it even further, but it wasn't necessary for me so I never looked into it.

The performance was good with it, it would pull out a filthy mess in a couple days worth of skimming but you do need to make sure (as with all in sump non recirculating models) that it sits in a steady water level. For this reason, and the fact that it's supposed to be a better all around skimmer, I'm ditching the NWB150 for an Avast CS1 on my new setup.

i have the swc 160 cone and the bmk 150.....the 150 is dead silent...the 160 pulls a little more....you might be able to find a 10% off coupon and get the swc 160 for 246 shipped

Sea Side Aquatics CS1 same as a Bubble Magnus NAC7 but with a Sicce syncra pump sub 300 price too. Mojo's favorite JNS 2 I believe but that one is over budget by a 100.

Just spend a tad more and do it right the first time. SRO-1000. I currently have this on my 80g in my bedroom. It is $284 at our sponsor, Premium Aquatics. You can see that HERE.

The JNS skimmer is a SRO copy, using a Sicce pump.

Thanks for the responses guys. The current skimmer has to go. I came home tonight and it was LOUD. I usually listen to my TV at volume setting 10 and with the skimmer running i need it to at least 18 to hear it just as well.

I wish I could demo one to actually hear it.

Is the SRO-1000 just have the nice pump?

It looks like right now i'm debating between the SWC 150bmk and the SRO-1000
