Help Please. Acros tips turning white.

After monitoring the coral over the weekend, the tissue has receded further on the tips.
I have been running biopellets for the past year and started to due some research on tips burning and biopellets.
A lot of people are saying that your alk should be lower when running pellets. I don't know if I should slowly lower the alk or take some pellets out. Since this is my first try at sps since I started the pellets, this could be the issue.
Any thoughts?

I have the same acro and my tips have always looked like that...

It looks like normal growth to me as well. You can take another photo and compare the two pics for growth, I would bet you will notice the tips are growing and the last bit of them always look like that. I keep mine high in the water column, moderate flow and dose Fe until this one gets a nice shimmer... I use it to gauge my Fe requirements, and have been neglecting my Fe for a bit now.

Brought my macro lens home today for an updated shot.
Seems to be getting worse. Cut my biopellets down and kalk back to lower alk a bit.

Yea..that doesn't look like growth. your alk is fine. i would say.. not enough flow.

If that doesn't work...lower your alk to 8 dKH. With bio pellets..alk around 9-10 dKH may cause SPS tips to burn.

+1... Having seen the macro pic I agree, those are burnt tips. Good call. I have burned tips in the past by overdosing K, but you haven't mentioned anything about potassium.

Its currently about 8 inches from my mp40 running reefcrest at 80%.

Slowly lowering the alk by dripping straight rodi instead of kalk. Once its hits around 8, I'll put the kalk drip back on. I use about 2 teaspoons of kalk per 5 gallons.
I have never tested of potassium before but maybe that is the missing piece to the puzzle. It's just driving me crazy.

I don't think low K would burn your tips, it usually indicates by purples and blues deepening upon sufficient levels. The tips burning happens when dosing K too quickly, so if you aren't dosing it then it is one less thing to rule out.
