Hey all. I might be jumping the gun a little but I am unsure. I currently have a 30 gallon reef tank up it is new and so am I to the reef world. I have this dark purplish/ black growing on my live rock with what looks to be silver bubbles on it. I currently do not have pictures because my lights are off. Also last time i tried to load pictures on here it didnt work,,, So my question is... Is this part of the coraline and the die off of the nitro cycle or is this something i should be worried about and jump right on...? I feed once a day and my lights are on for 10 hours a day. I also do 20% water changes every week. Please help me let me know if i can calm down or if I should be worried any and all help would be appreciated sorry about the no pictures I will take some tommorow and try to up load them

pic will do more justice but my first feeling from what u described is cyano bacteria.

+1 on the Cyano bacteria. Siphon it out at water change and reduce the length of the light period on the tank to avoid it growing back...
Good luck with things

Ok thanks for the quick response guys i appreciate it . I will post a picture up tommorow and then do a water change

Read the newbie stickies and read about other peoples builds about what they have gone through. Check out mine, I've got lots of pics that might help you, also find and read threads and posts by "Paul b". His tank is forty years old... Don't rush to do what he does though because not everything works for everyone... Research a lot and take your time. Don't get stressed out and think you have to change stuff or fix stuff right away... Most crashes occur while over eager newbies like us rush to "fix" something that doesn't need fixing.

I will check out the stickies thanks and my tank is about 4 months old. I bought it off a buddy who had a reef tank in it for about 5 years

So is this normal stages an things that might happen ... As I said before I am new to the reef world. This is actually my 5 th tank I've owned the others were all aggresive non live rock non reef
