*Help* Problem with return and overflow

Okay, I just did my plumbing today and seem to have a problem.

I have a Eheim 1260 for my return. Plumbing is 1" PVC 4 feet vertical 1.5 feet horizontal with 4 90 degree elbows all together.

My overflow has a 1" bulb head. I have a 3 foot 1" flex tubing going into my sump.

There isnt any leaks in my piping which im happy about but my return area in the sump water level drops and my skimmer/overflow water level rises when I turn on the return pump. I have a durso pipe in the overflow also that kept making the flushing sound.

Any solutions to fix all my problems?

k, found one problem.

I had to drill a larger hole in the durso pipe cap. I still hear "alittle" gurgle but nothing big. Is there a way to make it perfectly quiet? Or is a slight gurgle the best you can get?

I no longer have the water level problem either after drilling the bigger hole.

I inserted a 12ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚ piece of hard plastic tubing used for RO units. I inserted one end, about an inch or so, of the tubing in the intake and clip the other end to my canopy. The tube removes any air which may be captured in the downdraft thus eliminating the gurgle sound most people complain about. Give it a try.

also make sure the your durso going into the sump is not too low below the water level. i also just slid a tee on the end of it and it made mine virtually silent. the tee helps the air that is coming crashing down with the water exit into the sump disperse nicely and it keeps quiet

I'm having trouble visualizing that. Could you post a pic pretty please?

i dont have any pics as im at work but picture a pvc tee and turn it upside down. then slide it on the end of the durso standpipe that is emptying in your sump. water will then run down into the tee and out the two sides. that is a horrible explanation.

ok on a tee ( _l_ ) you have 3 openings. two on the x axis and one on the y axis. slide the one on the y axis onto the end of your pipe submerged under the water. you can play with the depth. it did wonders for the sound

Great explanation, I totally see it now. :)

Cool, sounds like a great idea. If any of you guys try it out, post some pics and let me know how it works out :) .
