Help! Pump noise on Comline 9005 Skimmer

I just installed my new Tunze Comline 9005 Skimmer on my tank today. It is install in the sump using the kit, the water level is at 7.5" in the sump. The skimmer is making a annoying humming noise from the pump. It seems to be working, water is flowing out and there are bubbles coming up the cup. Is this a normal sounds? I thought maybe it was just new and this will go away but I'm not to sure.

Anyone know if this is normal? I thought they were supposed to be dead silent...

Well I wrote to fast I guess, its quieted down a lot.

One question though. Is water supposed to squirt out the back of the unit?

Yes, water normally exits a small hole in the back of the skimmer.

Ok, well the unit is skimming along like crazy. It is also dead silent now.

mine was loud for like 3 days but now my oceans motion is louder then it.
they did good making a silent skimmer ( if you take the top off of it you can hear the bubbles popping lol)
