I cant figure out my ro di unit. i hooked everything up disposed the first 5 gallons it made i started filling up the tank before i went to work. i get home test the tds in the tank and its reading 329 it should be 0. so i think i have the lines backwords so i check the waste water and its reading 329 as well please help....

the only thing i didn't hook up was something called spiral wound element, the manual said it was activated carbon for taste. anyway 2 pics to help.

that "spiral wound element" is the RO membrane, if you didn't put it in, it's good because you probably didn't flush your carbon first.

Put the blue filter in the white horizontal housing and you should see 95-99% less tds on the output. You probably used up all your DI resine (the 2 housing on top) and they will need to be changed if you have more than 1 ppm TDS.

so your saying in 8 hours or so all the di resin went bad b/c i didn't have the ro membrane installed? if i install the membane will it be good?

ok i put the membrane inside the housing...

The membrane will go into the housing at least another 1/2".

Its too bad you did not do more research here on RC or you would have passed on the unit you bought. Its one of the absolute worst units on the market bar none. All units may look the same but they sure don't perform the same.

You DI is exhausted for sure. Those two teeny weeney hollow tubes only hold about 12 oz of resin to begin with and don't work al;l that well. A good RO/DI has another vertical canister with DI resin in it and they hold 20 oz and have excellent flow characteristics as they are true filters.

Just a word of advice, if possible I would return that one expressing your dissatisfaction and get a real RO/DI from a trusted vendor to replace it. The complaints on that one are pretty frequent.

That RO/DI will probably work good, depending on the price you paid for it, I would either keep it or return it.

The DI resin is probably used up because instead of having 3-10 ppm going thru it, it was having 329. so it will get used 30-100 times faster.
