I need some advice on keeping my fish alive while I get another aquarium in a few days. Please help. I got them in a tote with a heater and circulation pump and live rock. Any advice is appreciated

How many fish, how big a tote?

Sounds like you made the right choices putting them in a tote with circulation and a heater. The live rock would do well as cover/hidey holes though you will likely be better off with frequent water changes over relying on it to keep ammonia down.

Feed very sparingly, and make sure to get any detritus you see out before ammonia builds, and you should be fine.

Even with a large volume of fish, they should be okay for a few days so long as the temperature stays level, and they stay oxygenated. Quarantine tanks are much the same when we sometimes have to put big fish into tanks too small for them.

Good luck!

Their calmness or lack of it will be largely dependent on the aeration level---if it stays normal, they'll be good. They don't need to eat for a few days unless you have a nippy one. Clean water trumps feeding: feed every third day lightly.

So far the fish seem to be doing well. Tote is about 10 gallons only three small fish in there and some snails. Thanks for your help everyone.

Oh good.

I saw your signature has a 200 gallon tank and I was worried how many/how big the fish are to be going into a tote!

Sounds like you should be set!

Yes that was an old aquarium. I have or had till this morning a biocube 32. Just ordered a jbj rimless 30. Hopefully it lasts longer that 4 months . . . Also I added a light to the tote to calm the fish a little.

Honestly if you leave it open top in a room that isn't pitch black thats probably fine. A little light is good, but too much can stress them more.

The tank that cracked was only 4 months old? I would think to check the guarantee. i believe most are a year. Unless you broke it?

Yeah only four months and it split down the side on the curve. Not ever getting another biocube

Agree with hkgar. That's a $500 setup that lasted fewer than four months. I'd want my money back, or some remediation.
