Help Tank crash

My tank had a huge crash recently a few months ago I lost all my xenia and got brown algae everywhere. I changed from tap to RO/DI water and did a 50% water change and reduced the light cycle and it seemed to be getting better. Then I added about 45lbs of rock my cousin gave me fresh from his tank and the brown algae got worse and now my carpet anenome is dead and my algae blenny died (looked like he starved to death) and my acro is starting to deteriorate. Is my RO/DI bad? or is it the Rock. Should I remove all the rock I added? I'm very confused and about to give up.

do you have a TDS meter?
that would give you some more info about the ro/di unit

i don't think the extra was what made your diatom bloom worse...unless it was out of the water for several hours.... it seems like you had serious problems befor you added this rock anyways....do you test regularly? maybe you have a log of parameters over the start of the crash. based on this info it is really hard to helkp ya with any info other then guesses.

sorry that happened to ya... i actually just recovered from a moderate crash

No i dont have a TDS meter. Im hoping its not that because it is 6 stage filtration. When the xenia died I constantly monitored all levels and there were fine no traceable problems except for akalinity and calcium where low. It's just very frustrating it been going wrong for almost 6 months
