Help Tank Sucking Air Into Sump

I am just setting up my new 120 and it is sucking air down into the sump and is obnoxiously loud. I am trying to getr this setup so that I can get the package ordered.

The tank and stuff info - 120 gal. All Glass with built in drains, Mega flow4 sump and a Aqua C EV180.

The skimmer is ok but the water out of the tank is very aereated and loud and I mean LOUD. Any ideas.
Thanks for the help,
Steve

Does the overflow line have to fight gravity anywhere?...does the line have a dip in it anywhere? That usually fixes it.

just make sure you eliminate the upward movement of the water...it creates an air pocket..which causes the suckin sound...

Thank you for your help and thank you for welcome.
I will try it in the AM and seal a leak in the supply line and then I should be ready for the package.

Well just an up date: I spent all weekend trying to fix that noise. I have replumed the tank twice now. I am going to put neoprene on the bottom and sides of the inlet chamber to the wet dry.
Leroy is it possiable that I am ethier moving to much water or not enough?
One would assume that a guy that deals with heating and chilled water flows every day could sort this out!!! :LOL2:

Did you get the durso stand pipe with the aquarium?

Yes I did for both drains. The noise is generated in the wet dry in the first chamber where the water first comes out of the drain tube.
I am wondering if I am not moving enough water or to much.
I am putting a ball valve inline so I can manulipate the flow. If it is not needed then I can isolate the supply with out draining the system down.
I will catch up this weekend as I am off to Casper, WY to work on a new school there.
Thank you all for your help and I will update you later this weekend as to my lastest frustrations.

Can you submerge the outlet of the pipes? That might help reduce it some.

Use a gate valve to manipulate flow. Ball valves are best used for on/off function.

Well I tamed the great sucking noise. I replumbed the drains making sure not to have any rise in the lines and a nice slope to the wet dry. Secondly I shortened the inlet pipes to the wet dry to aid in the slope of the drain lines.
This of course did not completly remove the noise. I installed a ball valve to regulate the flow. This step was very necessary as I found out after the plumbing changes. The pump appears to over pump, so I limited the flow.
The other change I enacted was to use was the rubberised floor matting like they use in a gym to line the cabinet and go under the wet dry. This help deaden most of the rest of the noise.

Thanks to all for helping me resolve the air noise,

Steve

PS - I now get to order the PACKAGE - YEA - WO HOO
