Help, there's a monster in my tank

The pictures are of it's sheded shell:eek2:. It's in a wonton soup container for size reference.
I have no idea how it came to be in my tank. I haven't bought any LR, or dead for that matter in yearsssssssssssssss.

I believe it is beating up some of my fish, and would not be surprised if the fish that disapeared were done in by it. Currently my sailfin has chopped up dorsal fin, and my Potters Angelfish is missing it's tail.

I have tried the bottle trap with silversides in it, and it has not gone for it. What else can I try to get this thing out of my tank?

If you can't trap it, you have to watch the tank when you feed, and see where it call home. With a little luck, he lives in a rock that you can easily remove from your tank. Once the rock is out of water, he will probably come out on his own. If not, hot water in his cave will flush him out.

+1 dont feed your tank for like 2 or 3 days and look to see where he lives when you do feed it again

I had one of these and you can tell where they live by the scrap marks they leave behind from there claws, Look for long deep scarp marks that look like white lines. I would remove the entire rock to get him or her out they love sps LOL
good luck

Also I am going to say that's not a shell but the actual crab that has already died.

Thank you Larry, I have an idea where it is at. Unfortunately it's a bottom base rock.:mad2: So I gues I will be taking apart that side of the tank to get to that rock.:(

Well I guess it is a good thing I have no SPS left.:( It was a shell. There was nothing inside when I lift the under belly shell. And if it was a dead one, then there is another in the tank cause I saw it off to side behind a rock next to that shell.:worried:

He/she has been caught! :bounce1:

Of course I forgot to take pix of the rock work!:angryfire:

how did you not notice that!!!!

did you destroy your rock work in the process of catching it?

Easy: It stayed in the rocks!! It never came out to the front, nor crawled on the rocks...:angryfire:

Yes, it had moved to the other side of the tank to the bottom base rock!!!!!
Rocks are back in the tank, but I am not happy. Much more work to get them to look somewhat presentable if you will.:lolspin:
