Help to redo my CL manifold.

Hi folks,

I have a CL on my 100g peninsula. It uses an Iwaki-40 and is fed by 2 one inch lines.

My current CL manifold forms a full circle (rectangle) around the perimeter of the tank. It has 6 outputs and flow seems even throught them all.

Now, to make the tank look neater, I want to redo the manifold part and omit one of the sides of the manifold.

In effect, the new manifold will be U shaped. The line from the pump will join the U at one of the corners. Essentially, this means that the two outputs farthest from the pump will be on 'dead ends' of the manifold, and not connected together as before.

Can anyone forsee any issues that this might cause, i.e. uneven flow?

Thanks!

In all my reading about closed loop manifolds I think your fear is likely to happen - uneven flow.

Having the manifold form a complete circuit helps keep the flow uniform - without that circuit you would be applying uneven pressure at each output.
