HELP!! Watermelon chalice has tissue necrosis

I bought this frag at a local frag swap about 2 months ago. About one month ago I noticed the edge of it losing color and turning a bit white. Now it has tissue recession where the white area was and it seems to be progressing. This is not only a beautiful frag but an expensive one at that. When I acclimated the coral I also did a REVIVE dip before placing it in the tank. This morning I also did a revive dip.

Is there anything else I can do to save this prized coral?????

without more info its hard to say...but from what I can see I would

1. quit dipping it

2. put it in lower light than you are now and good flow. Not strong flow, just make sure it has flow all around iot

3. figure out why you have som many excess nutrients in youtr tank. you have algae everywhere including ggrowing underneat/on the coral, which is not only not doing it any favors, it wont grow back over dead skeleton coated with algae

ps- the coral doesnt ook all that bad. It looks bleached to me a little though. I run very high light tanks and my chalice need to be as far away fromt he lgihts as they can get (on the floor off to the sides) without being in the shade to look their best

Fly guy.

Your right on with the excess nutrients! I've just started the zeo process about 4 weeks ago and the algae is dying off and nutrients are getting under control.

I'll shade it and see if it makes a difference.

Thanks.
