HELP: What are these

I am noticing small, about 1cm across "things" on my rocks and glass.

They are flat. White. Roughly round. When I clean the glass - they get removed, except for a ring of faint white where they were.

I would say that they look similar to if I took a bottle of white out, dabbed the brush against a peice of paper, and let the little blob of white out dry. They are not "pure" white - but rather a dingy yellow white. They are perhaps 1mm high.

They appear on the glass and on the rocks.

Does anyone have suggestions as to where I could find pics of this animal/thing - and try to identify this animal?

In particular - I want to know if they are pests, or good things.

Not those.

These are flat in the center.

Imagine a drop of elmers glue on a peice of paper. That is more what they look like. But only perhaps 1mm high in the middle.

Sounds like some sort of eggs. Cerith eggs maybe?

Hard to tell without a pic but sounds like baby snails to me. If you look veeeery closely you might be able to see the antenna

I have the same things. I agree they are nerite eggs. If you use a magfloat to clean. It leaves the same faint ring that the original poster said.

Yep - Nerite snail eggs!

How long do they take to hatch?

About four or five days maybe. Not really sure if you'll be seeing any baby snails anytime soon though. Our little microcosms might be a little to small for that, with the larval period and all. Keep your fingers crossed.
