Help, while I was gone **Pictures**

While I was gone for a few days, some of my purple mushrooms have died and my long tentacle plate coral is really scary looking.

This is what the plate coral looked like before, but with a pink body:

and here is what it looks like now:

The top of the water is stagnant, but everything seems to be working fine. Here is what the top of the water looks like:

and here is a photo of the entire tank (some of the coral appear shriveled because the lights just turned on):

Here's a list of some things we have, how they have been affected, and for how long we've had them:

29g tank (1.5 years)
40lbs live rock (1.5 years)
Purple Mushrooms (4 months) - dead
Assorted Mushroom Rock (2 weeks) - perfect
AquaC Remora Protein skimmer (2 weeks)
Eheim Aquaball (2 weeks)
Coralife double deluze lunar (2 weeks)
Xenia (1 week) - perfect
Frogspawn (1 week)- perfect
Long tentacle plate coral (a few days) - dead/decaying?

Haul out the dead and dying. You might isolate the plate in a qt tank and see if it will regrow. Sometimes fungia at least bud off the plate.

Run carbon.

Did you lose all fow or something. I see some what appears to be cyano, the plates tentacles are straight up. ???

Dont toss the plate. I have seen them come back into several new plates from the old skeleton.

I would get as much of the loose mucas out and anything else nasty floating around with some water changes. Carbon can't hurt either.

Have you ran any tests on the tank?

you need to run carbon and do frequent water changes when that thing died it sent your small tank through a cycle...

Everything will die back to the hard coral base
The flesh dissolves into the water, leaving the base plate
That is why you need to do a large water change & run carbon - to clean the water up
