Help with 9010

Ok, I am having some problems with my new 9010 skimmer and figured I would come here first.

The directions included with the skimmer were kind of hard to follow. Here is how I have it setup.

I have the 9010 sitting inside my return tank. It sits in about 7 inches of water. I have the tube with the blue foam sleeve installed on the front of the skimmer.

Anyway, as per the instructions, I plugged in the skimmer and loosened the metering screw three revolutions. About a day later I was getting some pretty good foam and metered it till a nice wet green slop was being collected in the cup. Well today when I woke up, I had no foam at all going up into the cup and I noticed a stream of water coming out of the back of the skimmer, almost all the way at the top where the unit matches up to the collection cup. I never noticed that before. Now, it doesn't matter what I do with the metering screw, I get no foam inside the collection cup.

Please help me get this thing up and running.

Either the blue sponge is above the top of the pipe, it should be flush with the top of the pipe or below it, or the elbow of the pipe is too deeply inserted into the body.

What do you mean the elbow is too deeply inserted into the body? I pulled out the skimmer, disassembled it and put it back together. The elbow seems to only go in one way, I don't know how it could be put in too far. The sponge is below the top of the tube.

I am still getting a stream of water coming out the back of the skimmer and I am still not making bubbles.

Any other ideas?

Water should be coming out the back of the skimmer and the stand pipe, it should not be coming out the nipples at the top under the cup. If it is then the elbow is inserted to far into the skimmer body. You just need to pull the stand pipe elbow out a couple mm's. If no water is coming out the nipples at the top then the problem is likely that the airline is not connected to the pump inside the skimmer or the venturi is broken. The airline does frequently come detached from the pump in shipping.
