Help with GBTA and SPS corals

Hi guys,
I am sure this has been asked before so I apologize ahead of time.

Can somebody post pictures of their bubble tip anemones living along sps corals?.....

I have a GBTA and I think is getting too big for my tank, it is very healthy. I feed it once per week.

The issue is, the tentacles are now coming about 1 to 2 inches away from one of my sps frags……I just want to get an idea of others that keep this type of anemone along with SPS corals……

The last thing I want to do is get rid of it, my 2 clowns (only 2 fish I have) love my GBTA, besides the BTA was there before any of my corals….BTW, I know, I know….this is one of the biggest problem with these animals, newbies like me think is cool to have them but then we are surprised when they are growing too big……you see it is probably 6-7 inches from my MH 150 W 20K Radium light and it has never bubbled, if it compacted and bubbled then it would not be a problem, in my case I don’t believe it is stretching for light, it is not stretching up…it is stretching really wide, when I bought it 2 months ago, it was bubbled and compact under plain PC lights in LFS.

My main concern is how deadly are they to SPS corals?.....I will try to post pictures tonight when I get home, but should I be concerned?

Any pics or advices?

Thank you again.

I feel your pain. They are quite devastating to SPS. Here is a small picture of mine from a couple months ago.

It has engulfed the coral to the right in the picture. Which is now utterly dead. It also engulfed a coral that can no longer be seen. Both corals were part of a frag pack and luckily they were the oh-so-unique brown corals, that you inevitable get so I wasn't to bent out of shape. I will eventually destory anything that comes into contact with it's tentacle ends. It is now touching the underside of the red cap, and is also brushing the base of the birdsnest above it and the tyree birdsnest way over to the right. For now I can deal with it, but if he keeps growing his days are numbered.

My biggest issue is that the anemone and the breeding clowns hosting in it are "Family Favorites".

Thank you for your input Kurt...is too bad you lost your frags..

My problem is I got tired of snails knocking my frags off the rocks so I went ahead and glued them for good....in one big rock I glued 5 frags...and thats the rock the BTA is now touching, I really didnt want to have to rearrenge the entire rock work, I can only do so much with my tank size.

I see your BTA is not bubbled either, and you have plenty of light, so there goes the theary they compact with high lighting.

I used to have an anemone right next to all my SPS..you can see it on the right-->

It started to move and I got FREAKED out...but I was able to remove him and put him on the bottom of the tank where he didnt' move from thank god...got lucky

So I think I will need to move the rocks "again" so it can move towards the bottom of the tank.....so, my question is, should I try to move rocks around when the anemone is fully opened or should I wait until the a.m. hours when the light has been off and its smaller.....I hate to do this to the anem because it is going to stress it out....

you won't stres it out that much...if at all. if you start moving the rock he will close up anyway so up to you, I would gently bother the tentacles so that he closes a little then move the rock...the real test is the first night...If he is happy with his spot he will stay, if you wake up the next morning and he moved he didn't like it. I would say move with caution, he could want to move and with the smaller tank...could be bad
