It depends, if you treated your fish in a QT tank, then you should probably wait 1-2 weeks before adding another fish. If you treated your fish in the main tank, then it should be okay to add another fish right now.
Assuming the fish are in a seperate QT tank... Wait about 4 weeks after the ick treatment (2 to 4 weeks copper treatment / 4 weeks hyposalinity treatment). If no ick shows itself again then you are more then likely ick free.
Leaving the display tank without fish for six weeks will cause the parasite to starve to death. It will then be ick free.
That is really helpful, thank you. I'm tring to set up a qt tank right know because the ick came back. Its not fun. How do I prevent myself in the future.
