I'm new to anemone ownership and hope I didn't make a mistake. I bought this in hopes my clowns would like it. I have had my clown fish for about 3 months and this anemone for about 24 hours. I woud like to know which species it is and if my clowns will host with it.

good parts
1. its sticky to touch
2. it reacts to food quickly
3. seems to have attached quickly to rock and sand bed.

bad

1. mouth appears to be open all of the time and I worry that means its not going to be healthy.

It is a Haddoni carpet.

An open mouth isn't a good sign, though not uncommon for one that was just introduced to the tank --- but I would still be a bit concerned.

Overall Haddonis can be easy to keep, but the first couple of weeks can be difficult -- IMO they are poor shippers.

It looks a little bit bleached, what lights do you have, and what size tank?

I have a 75 gallon tank with sump/refugium.

4 T-5 48" bulbs with a IC 660 overdriving them

also I notice it seems to be larger when the lights are off.. I'm only running 5.5 hours today to see if its just getting to much light

I wouldn't bother feeding it until next weekend --- give it time to settle in, it takes energy to digest food, and there is a chance that it might not be able to fully digest it, which could lead to issues.

Does that fixture have individual reflectors? Do you know what lights it was under before you got it?

Then I would acclimate it to your lights. Put some egg create over the tank, and they 3 layers of window screening. Remove a layer each week. (( the egg create is to place the screening ontop of ))
