Help with identification

I got on top of mine, although it took several weeks.

Here's how I did it:

Before every water change, I took a length of 1/2" ID vinyl tubing and tied a filter sock around one end. Tossed that end in the sump, and then started a siphon in the hose. Using my wife as a spotter, we went around the tank and scraped/sucked every bit we could find. This kept it from floating free and just landing someplace else. Once we had removed as much as possible, I went ahead with a normal water change. Worked like a charm!!!

Manual removal and nutrient control are the keys to ridding your tank of this scourge. Although I did put in a couple emerald crabs, I never saw either one touch the stuff.

Thanks for the ID. The algae in on a small rock about 2" or 3" in diameter so I'll most likely remove it.

If it's isolated to a single spot, remove the rock (s), scrape it off as best you can, and then flood the area with hydrogen peroxide, allow it to soak on it for a few minutes, give it a quick rinse in old tank water, and return to tank.
