Thanks for the reply Zafak.

I have to figure out how to get the pic up. It seems to be too large to upload!
Hi Everyone,

I've noticed something in my tank that looks like a scallop growing out of on my rocks. It is the middle of the picture between the green mushroom and the small candy cane coral. All my rocks are home made. So it didn't come in with rocks from a local fish store. Any ideas on what this might be?

Thanks

I'm not seeing a picture, just a link to your gmail?

It's pretty common to get bivalves on or in live rock. Some burrow into the rock and you don't notice them until they move out or die and fall out. If it is a mobile mollusk, it might move around your tank before finding a spot it likes and attaching itself there. When I set up my first reef tank, I had a flame scallop that kept running all over the tank before attaching itself to the back of the rockwork out of view.

If you are using a windows computer open the image then use the snipping tool, included with windows, to capture it and then save to .jpg or .png file. It will be smaller and then you will be able to upload. If you are on windows 10 just hit the windows key, then type in snip and it will display.

Phones and macs have similar features that may also help you.

Did you seed your home made live rock with any regular live rock? Store bought or from a buddy's tank.. or lives sand?

No picture, You can either use the tap talk app or an image site like flickr. You just can't use photobucket. If you use tap talk don't use the large image, it is really large. Medium seems to be a better choice.

Thanks for the help with the pic. I use the snipping tool at work so I used that here. It worked!

Here is the pic.

Anyone recognize this guy?

LeJune981 I don't remember but that is a good point. I bet I did seed the tank. It was 3-4 years ago.

I think it is kind of cool that things can pop on their own like this.

No idea what that Lil dude is..

But i Deff agree with you.. it's absolutely amazing and the reason I love this hobby so much.. the hitchhikers and things that come from no where..

My tank was up and running for about 9 months when I found my first stomolla snail.. now I have 50 of them..

It always makes me pretty happy when I find a new little critter in the tank.. and then a few days of reasurching anything and everything about them !!
