Help with my Brain Please!

Three days ago I noticed that my brain coral was dying in one spot at the bottom where it now has exposed skelton. In the past three days it has progressed from about a 1/2" to a 1" of skelton on it's edge. Nothing has changes in the tank and the water is great. The other odd thing is that it has devolped another mouth in its' center and looks like yet another mouth is developing on the left. Prior to this weekend it only had two mouths (one on the left and one on the right). I have had this coral for about 4 months and it's been healthy and happy. Other than the one area, the rest of the brain looks great. It's puffed up and eating. Any thoughts? I have been watching it like a hawk and have not seen anything picking on it.

Dip it in Coral Rx to stop an infections.

2x check water parameter and post them.

Thank you for your relply.

Ammonia, Nitrite, Phosphate, Nitrates: 0 ppm
Spec. Gravity 1.025
Ca: 460 ppm
Temp. 80-81

So you think it's an infection? What would cause that?

Could be anything - any new additions to tank? Maybe something is picking at it.

ph alk mg?

ph 8.2, alk 8, I do not have a test for mg.

The brain is at the bottom of the tank (105g) in low/mod flow. There have been no new additions to the tank. I keep a charcol bag in the sump to avoid any chemical wars with corals. The brain is not anywhere near another coral and I have not seen anything picking at it.

Thanks, Laurie

Do you know if its eating or not?

It has never eaten shrimp/krill when offered near its' mouth, but it does put out feeders when I add Oyster Feast and brine shrimp to the tank. I have another brain that will eat pieces of shrimp/krill when offered. I purchased both brains at the same time and have had both for approx. 4 months. The other brain looks wonderful.
