I purchased a pair of percula clownfish a few days ago from my LFS. they were taken from a small 5gal tank which had a anemone it it they were hosting, and brought them home, aclimated them for three hours and put in my 34gal tank which is fairly new, only LR and one mushroom. Since I bought them they hover near the top of the tank, at night when moodlights are on they stay in one corner. They are eating alright but am a little concerned about their behavior. Any ideas?

I have a 3-4 incher, then I added two juv. occ's.
They swam and swam in the same spot for 2 days until they started to eat and swim
around the tank. At night sometimes one of them will go to the front top corner and stick there the whole night.

They are healthy and eating and playing.

You shouldnt have to worry at all, as long as they are eating

mine has actually dug a hole in the sand in a corner of my 75gal where he sleeps at night. He hangs out near the surface above his little nest ALL day long along with his best friend (a small blue chromis) there inseperable. Think they'll pair up and breed? I'm taking offers on the babys! As long as he's eating, i thing you should be ok.

thanks so much for the encouragement, for what I paid for them I was worried I was going to lose them. glad to know its normal behavior.

My Onyx do the same thing. I added 1 juvey to my 35g and for 3 weeks she didn't even venture near the bottom of the tank. She would just sit in the jet stream of the power head or hang out under the water fall of the HOB filter. As long as they are eating well I wouldn't worry about it ;)

yeh my occ. clowns did that for a week then they started to migrate around and explore the rocks, my clarkii full out lays down at night, when i first saw it i thought he was dead, so i turned the lights on and he swam around like crazy bouncing off the glass like he couldnt see. he is a fat and happy fish.
