help with my torch

I am asking for some opinions on how and why my torch coral which came in the mail yesterday. I floated the bag in my water to get it use to the temp, then acclimated for 45 minutes. I put it in the water and it was half open but i noticed it didn't seem happy, so i turned the light off and noticed it opened to about 80%. The next day i suspected it would be fine and my lights went on(two t5's) and it progressively started to close and now it is closed since this morning. I was wondering it must be just getting to the lights in my aquarium but need some help and opinions. Oh and all my water parameters are perfect i just checked, also i have two other torch corals that are doing perfectly fine, so my water is not the problem.

If it reacts to light put it towards the bottom of the tank and let it acclimate over the next few days. Where's it currently at in the tank (top, bottom, etc)...

I suggest not turning your lights on for the day you get new arrivals, or turn them off before introducing the new items and leave them off for the rest of the day. Bright lights after a dark shipping box can be an additional stress for what can be already very stressed animals. I do this for fish and corals.

Once i lower it, how long do you think until it will open? A couple days? I'm just worried because I want to know what is to be expected without saying to myself it is dead or something. Also should I lower it to the point where it's in the shade a little bit?

So I just went to go lower it and a bunch of white stuf came out and was disgusting! I took it out of my tank immediately cause I didn't want that stuff to go all over my tank. It was a lot and I don't know what that means. Help!!

White stuff?? Critters or sand type?? Maybe just slime that corals release when intruduced to new enviroment. When you acllimated the torch, did you dip it on revive or coral rx prior to placing it in your display tank.

No I did not dip it, now I think the torch died since it is not opening at all and I don't even see it.

A part of it could still be alive, so you can leave it.

Nothing coming out of it should cause any harm... will just be food particles for the other corals.

You should ALWAYS dip corals. Just give it some time and as others mentioned move it to the bottom for the time until you see it opening consistently.

GL!
