Help With Octopus Hurricone Cat 1

Had this beast for about a month now and even with the valve wide open the collection cup is still filling and overflowing with basically water. The only way I get good, nasty, thick skimmate is by modifying the intake flow. I thought I should just be able to set it with the valve and not impede the intake flow.

Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

what is the water depth you have the skimmer setting in. Sounds like it is in too deep of water.

Yeah I think that may be an issue as well...it is sitting in about 11 to 12" of water.

I may need to take some out huh?

How would this correct the problem?

It creates back pressure so the foam head can settle to the top and more pressure on the output. Raise it by 4-6 inches.

I have tried to adjust the water level in the sump and that didn't do any good due to the design of my baffles so I tried to lift it, but I haven't found the right size to be able to lift the skimmer and pump off and still be able to put the cup on.

The thing is still blowing bubbles into the cup when the valve is fully set to open. I have found that by blocking the intake just a small bit allows it to operate somewhat normally, but I just want this thing to work like it should.

Am I missing a part or something, any strainer or something to put over the pump intake?

Try and raise the skimmer close to 8 inches. At 9 inches mine still overflowed. I have it close to 7.5" now and it now works great. Might lower it back down to 8 later.

All your issues are related to the depth you are at.
