Help with Pink Lemonade...

Reef1589

Anemones for life
Alright, Pink Lemonade is by far my most favorite acro, i finally obtained a frag a couple months back its encrusting and growing well... but i feel like my polyps are not as Pink/Magenta as most colonies *cough* Mr Dan Rigles comes to mind...

its in a shallow tank only 13'' tall.. about mid way under 250W MH... sitting in par of 350 ish it was Lots of Indirect random flow... what could be the reason for my pink lemonade not coloring up like some others?

When i first got it

about 1-2 months later

<a href="http://s1113.photobucket.com/albums/k507/Reef1589/?action=view&current=11-3.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k507/Reef1589/11-3.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

and most recent photo of it taken 3 days ago

<a href="http://s1113.photobucket.com/albums/k507/Reef1589/?action=view&current=5-11.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k507/Reef1589/5-11.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

also, will the red millie encrusting at the base affect or go to war with the pink lemonade? they seem to be fine as of right now..

Nice frag a lot of what people see is truly based on what lighting it's under. Your frag looks amazing and I would continue to keep it under the conditions it's under as it looks very healthy and has lots of color for the spectrum of light it is under.

Send me a pm where you got it from as I have been looking as well .

i am probably being a little picky, i just see others pink lemonades and their polyps are just so much more Vibrant and poppin with that magenta color... mine look just brown.. =[

Looks like it is pretty happy, as you have gotten some good growth.

Give it some time. It will get better colors and PE as the colony continues to grow.

I would just leave it alone and see what happens. Looks ok. Start worrying if you start seeing decay. And remember sometimes corals just die. That one looks ok to me.

You can see the growth tips are nicer and what your looking for, just give it some time and it will eventually take off and new growth should maintain good colors. I would be worried about the millie, not so much for the next month or two but for 6 months or a year from now when it's a pain to separate them.

Just so you know, I recently received a pink lemonaid and it doesn't look like yours. It is pink and yellow. Only been in my setup for about a month, and was from a trade, so it's not as big as yours. I'll post a pic later if interested.

Mine is under 2 - 14k Phoenix bulbs (double ended 250w)

Let me see a pic of yours... im not doubting mines a PL... because the new growth is yellow how i see most peoples.. just my polyps are not Pink as i said...

If you want the best coloration without the green move it up higher, mine got the best coloration, bright gold + pink getting blasted with light and flow. Sadly I lost this during a move, its one of the best looking sps IMO. If you dont have any actinic lighting you could add some T5 or reefbrites.

That is definitely a tyree pink lemonade.... Give it more time....maybe more light? It looks decent though.

I would be really worried about that millepora though...

Hrm Andbi just moved mynlights up 4" cause i thought my corals were getting too much light....its a shallow tank 48"x24"x13" with two 250w metal halides 20k bulbs....ima give it time and see what happens...again haha i know im being picky just over polyps...but you all say it looks good and healthy haha so that makes me feel good

so ya'll think the millie will kill the PL? or will it just stunt its growth?... there was a red millie frag there that encrusted and i broke it off and stuck it in another tank, and the millie frag plug fit right there... and its grown to what you guys see.. ( and i thought it woulda been cool to see the millie table out around the pink lemonade... ) and the two ecrustations are pretty much touching eachother and i dont see any negative affects yet...

but if it will kill the PL ima definantly wanna Seperate the two...

And the flow and the water parameters. Its not all about lighting with sps trust me on this. :lmao:
I was saying and I should have stated if all is good and from the picture above I am sure his tank parameters are in line that is why I didn't mention it. So if all is good It all comes down to lighting.

I think mine browned out bc of too much light. I was told it likes a lot of light when I bought it. It was on the sand bed when I bought it and I placed it in the middle and then moved it up top. The polyps browned and the base for greenish. It used to be a yellowish color wih bright pink polyps. I'm running DIY LEDs fwiw. I moved it to the middle to see if it colors back up.

You usually get bleaching when you have too much light.

I would continue to keep it under the conditions it's under as it looks very healthy and has lots of color for the spectrum of light it is under.
