Help with pump and heat

what is a good external pump that won't give off too much heat. i think the pump i am currently running is too big and heats my water to 84. i have an iwaki 70rlt.

thanks

What size is your system and how high is the head. That pump is rated for 1400 gph and draws around 300 watts. You could go with a 900 -1000 gph pump. Top of the line would be a eheim 1262, 898 ghp and 80 watts. I have had good luck with quiet one 3000, though you might want the 4000.1017 gph and 50 watts.

i've got a 100 gallon and it would be at least 5 feet head pressure. i was thinking of the velocity t4, anyone have any experience with these pumps?

thanks

Reefguy714,
Do you have a Seio or Tunze in tank?

In my experience you do not have to have too much flow unless you are trying to use the return as water flows, like power heads. In my 180G I use a Sen 9000 with Tunze and Seio 850.

Thanks
Simon

T4 adds a lot of heat to the tank. I am using a Panworld 50PX-x and it doesn't seem to affect the temp of the tank. It is quiet as well.

Hey reefguy714,
I just got a new 100 setup, looking at an external pump maybe pan world or pcx40.
No T4 it does make a lot of heat.
Pan World being quiet, the pcx40 a bit more noise.

thanks simon, i'm gonna have to use other items for current. so the panworld is good, i guess i will try that pump.

For real flow use a DART.

my overflow is having enough trouble with the iwaki:D

Finally got your new tank huh?

I have the panworld 100px-x. I like it, it doesnt seem to be too hot, but it also has a built in fan.

Yep pick it up on Fri. worked on it on and off all day sat. Plus yard work.
Thats the same pump I'm looking at 100px-x.
Do you like it?????
Is it quiet how about the heat??? Fan noise ok????
See you all at the RAP on Sat.
Got a cool deal on the setup that I can live with plus she was OK with it.

just removed a iwalki 70 cause if the same reason.put a blue line 40x on and lost 2 degrees and not much flow.i dont know why the iwalki puts so much heat in the tank being that it is external.i have other iwalki pumps that are not like that

300 watts is crazy especially for putting out 1400GPH. I have a 1/15 Hp Wave pool pump and it uses 132-150 watts depending on how much I have it restricted. It is rated at 3000GPH at 3.4 feet of head.

use Snapper is the best bet for you this time.

you have to know how much your drain can handle. I like to have around 1000gph or less going thru the drain.

I use a 50 pxx as a return....90 watts, quiet, and ample flow for a return pump. I also run a Dart as a closed loop. 78-80 deg. with no chiller.
