Help with PVC primer/cement!?

Just want to make absolute sure that once that pvc primer and cement have cured they aren't toxic to the aquarium. I'm using Oatey's purple primer and cement and I want to make sure that if any dries along the inside of the pipe that this won't affect the tank.
Thanks!

No problem, I have even heard people "coloring" their pipes with the purple primer. Just let it dry and give it a run.

That is what I use all the time, no pronlem so far. ;) Just ensure that you follow the directions for drying time before you use your pipes/fittings in you live environment. They do produce chemical fumes/toxins while drying. After that, you are home free. I always wait 24 hours, just to be on the safe side. One more thing, NEVER use that stuff in an enclosed area without proper ventilation. It will do things to your head, believe me! ;)

Cheers!

is the blue cement(rain or shine) any harmful? I would think not but want to make sure?

Thanks,

Nick
Umm... Not sure what you mean? Check the list of chemical ingredients on it, if it is more that 8 letters long, it probably is. :) Check the instruction sheet that comes with it, they will surely have directions and warnings.

Cheers!

Not familiar with that brand myself, either. However, if it can be used on potable water systems, then it's a good bet it can be used in aquariums... but not always. I know, confusing, but while certain chemicals can be tolerated by humans, they may be deadly to aquarium inhabitants.

If the manufacturer has a website, go there and check out the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).

Just my 2¢

Not that it is recommended, but I have used the plumbing immediately after installing the pipes and have had no problems.

Check the primer/cement bottle. I think that if it's good enough for human water consumption, it's probably fine for your tank!

I've used it as have many people.

Trivia - the primer is purple so that when plumbing inspectors check PVC plumbing, they can visual check if primer was used.

Warning - I accidentally breathed in the slightest fume of primer and my lungs felt like they were being heated with a hair dryer! Not uncomfortable, but certainly disturbing!
