Help with rebuild

So here i am back again, been awhile since i posted or even spent much time with my tank. The last year i could not look after my beautiful tank so gave all the fish and corals to a friend to hold. I wanted to get the tank going again when things settled down so i kept all the water going. Problem is aiptasia has taken over the tank and glass. I am thinking since nothing is in the tank i might just take out all the rock and sand and start over. Maybe cook all the rock? maybe wash and scrub and leave outside for a couple weeks? Drain the tank and wash the glass with vinegar. Can someone please give some sound advice. Thank you in advance.

How big is the tank? A load of peppermint shrimp will solve the aptasia problem in a natural way and make sure it never comes back.

The tank is a 180 gal plus a fifty gallon sump. I have never had much luck with peppermint shrimp eating aptasia. Its an idea i guess??

I can't speak based on personal experience as I've always kept aiptasia curbed before population exploded but I know of several members of my club that have had great succes with berghia nudibranch.

They can be pricey but you could buy and once the population is under control you can sell them off to another local reefer as they'll starve without it:)

Before adding the berghias I'd try to exterminate as many as you can see with a kalk paste, joe's juice, etc. Once you've done that add the berghias as I'm sure you can only see half of them!
