Help with return pipe size - already made a mistake

I'm setting up a nano and i'm makring loads of mistakes.

The first mistake i made was not washing the sand , it look like my sons poured milk into the water.

The second and most important mistake i made was juding the return too small.

The sump has a ehime 1060 which uses a 25mm pipe to return to the nano - in the photo's is the grey pipe. The return is a 32mm (equvalant in inches - in white).
I switch on the 1060 and with 30 or so seconds the nano is over flowing.

Does any one have any ideas how i can over come this? I really want to use a 1060 as the return.

I think the alternative is drilling another return, I have the glass drill all I need is the tank connector. If do you think a 2 x 32mm will work?

The second alternative is that i remove the white pipe and have a glass over flow. I would like the idea of an overflow but i just dont know if it will work.

one thing you might try is cutting slots or drilling some holes in the top of the pipe blow your current water level in the picture. or you can put a "t" section that runs back into your sump and a valve on your tank return line to regulate your pumps flow back into the tank.

A few things you can try, place a ball valve on the outlet of your Eheim to reduce the flow to the point that your tank doesn't overflow. Drill a second overflow so you can handle the added flow from your return pump. Its always best to have a overflow that can handle more than your return pump in case you get a partial clog, etc. If you are using a straight pipe for a return you may want to rig up a durso, not sure how much air you are getting into the line going to your sump.
