Help with skimmer in Aquapod

I have a 12 gallon Aquapod that is 2 months old. The built in skimmer dosen't seem to work and I read somewhere that you can block the bottom vents. Is there a way to do this easily? Can I do it now that it is filled with saltwater? Where should I keep the tank filled to? closer to the max line or in between? Any other suggestions are appreciated.

i have mine filled to max.
Just use a piece of plastic to block the vent. I used a piece of ruler for mine as it was all i had that was flat enough.

I went to hardware store and for a buck they cut me a piece of thin plexiglass. I had mine cut 4 inches wide by 11 1/2 inches tall.
It leaves a little room for adjustment.

I then just stuck it in the setup tank and it sucked to the vents.
You can move it up or down a little to create a small waterfall into the sump.
If you have sand already in there you might have to push it into the sand a bit.
It's clear so you can hardly see it.
You could prolly put it in the inside of the sump also but I did'nt try that.

I have mine filled up to the black top

I am curious why you had the plexiglass cut so tall? I thought it is just the small vents on the bottom left that need to be covered? Am I missing something?

I tried blocking just those and it still did'nt skim until I blocked them all.

It goes up covering the top slits about halfway to create a waterfall into the back box which is how it skims the top.
Theres a little room left to move it up and down to adjust it.
