Help with tank move

I may be getting a new (to me) 300 gal tank. Throwing out feelers to see if I can get any local reefers to help get the tank from the truck into my house. I would be happy to provide beers/burgers/pizza and even some dough.

I know I could just hire movers but I'd rather get to know and befriend a few of you guys close to me so we can talk reef setup etc.

I might even host a Super Bowl frag swap bc I'm hoping my tank will be ready for frags by then .

I don't have a date yet but respond here or PM me if you are interested. I live in Long Beach within walking distance to CSULB.

Suction cups

You want suction cups. I borrowed some from a friend or you can rent them from one of the LB fish stores but they cut the workload in 1/2. You want really good suctions cups.

Is the tank glass or acrylic?

I can probably help depending on when. If 5.56 comes he can bring my suction cups, so that’s one pair. I agree with Mark they really make the job much easier. Mine are just the duel HF ones, but they work well for the money. I believe AGE rents the real good large pump up ones.

I was hoping the seller could get the tank to my place but that doesn’t seem to be in the cards. Going to search for tank movers and get a quote. Maybe this will end up being a plumbing party since I still want to nerd out on reef talk even if the heavy lifting will be taken care of.

HF suction cups are a NO

That said, my last move of my glass 225, I had 4 of the double suction cup HF units for help but don't trust them. I also had 2 of the kind that age of aquariums rents and that's what you really want.

Is it glass or acrylic?

Good to know about HF, if I end up needing to move the tank myself, I'll rent them from Age of Aquariums. It is a glass tank so will be extremely heavy.

Mark Steve and I finished plumbing and transfer from my old tank to the new one in 3 days lol don't know how but we did it

You may be able to get some volunteers to help load it depending on where it is. Truck rental is cheep. I would offer use my truck but it is no longer reliable to go any distance.

I couldn't ask anyone to do that as I don't have an established relationship/friendship with y'all. The tank is in Oxnard and I don't feel right accepting the generosity of strangers to that degree. It's one thing having a few of you come over to just unload a tank from my front yard into my house for some beers and grub but not transport.

I am floored by the generosity of this group, thank you so much for even offering to help.

I've called Age of Aquariums but the owner is out of town so I'll have to wait till he gets back to see if they will transport. I also contacted about 5 moving companies and many just don't want to deal with a fragile and heavy glass tank.

Renting a truck with a lift is something I'm happy to do. And if I can't find movers, then I'd insist on paying some cash if I could coordinate a date with a few of you to help with transport.

I don't know if Steve will remember me, but I knew him in 2005ish when he lived in Irvine.
