Hello,
I have a 65 gallon reef tank. 45 gallon sump / refugium. Nitrates 10. I currently have 2 Clarkii clowns 1.5 inches. Just babies. I would like to add more fish. My idea was 1 or 2 Black cap basslets. 3 kauderns Cardinal fish. Any problems with those combo or amounts?

Just stick with 2 of kaudern's cardinal. Although docile fish they don't get along amongst themselves. Best to get one male one female IMO. Easy to sex. Lookup the "vent method to sex" banggai cardinalfish

I would do
2 clowns
3 flasher wrasse or fairy wrasse (1 male and 2 females)
And 2 cardinals and then stop there.

Not sure if you can keep two basslets...I feel like just one but I'm no expert so wait for more advice!

I would go with 2 Bangaii cardinals, as farfromsea suggested. A pair will usually end up killing off any others of their species.

As for the basslets, go with one unless you actually find a mated pair. Blackcaps are more aggressive than other basslets and you'll eventually end up with just one if you buy them separately.

The issue with Gramma melacara is that usually only large individuals are available. This is likely due to the fact that they are collected at greater depths where the divers have little time to waste to go after smaller, more shy individuals. As a result I would presume that most specimen in the trade are males.

If you want a pair or a group I would recommend to get a group of small Gramma loreto and have them figure it out by themselves. I have a group of 3 in my 100 gallon tank. Before that I had them in a 40B and before that for over 6 months in a 10 gallon QT (with a pair of percula and a pair of Marine Betta). I got them about 1.5" long. By now one is fully grown and the others are
The group behavior beats the rather boring behavior of single specimen.
