I placed my anemone into my tank and saw that my clown was picking at it. i thought that it might be hosting it but i woke up this morning and the stupid clown picked off all the anemones fingers off! what are the chances it will survive?!?!?!?! and is there anyway i can save it? please help!!!!!

What kind of anemone? That sounds unusual for a clown to pick one apart like that. If you can, try getting a strawberry basket to place over it. You may have to wedge some of into the rock to get it to stay put.

ive heard and seen this happening before but not at this extreme of a case. The clown will actually prune the anemone and this is just like cutting the grass. My clown did the same thing to a RBTA. A picture would probably help though to see the extent of the damage. I kinda doubt that the clown picked ALL of the tentacles.

Just keep an eye on them.

ill try to keep an eye on it but what are the chances it will survive? will it grow its fingers and how long should it take to do that?

they will grow back. just give it time and make sure that the clown doesnt eat the mouth or main center of the anemone.

I have a mated pair of ocellaris clownfish and they did the pruning below the anemone like they were going to lay eggs. They sucked on the tentacles but didn't bit them off. They badgered it so much that it eventually died. Before it died I saw it looked stressed and I pulled them out of the tank and the anemone held on for a few more months but eventually it stopped eating and was toast. Very sad. It was a large 8" rbta. They still like to badger stuff but now it is a 10 head hammer which seems to tolerate it. I have contemplated moving to more docile fish... or at least a different pair perhaps with better personalities.
