So I have a 38 gallon tank with 50 lbs of rock and 45 lbs of sand. I have 1 brittle star. 1 emerald crab. 1 pin cushion urchin. 7 hermits. 5 astrea snails 1 small turbo and 1 kinda bigger turbo. Is this overkill? And if so what should I get rid of. Alot of people say turbos eat alot but I read in a book that turbos are good for 1 per 10 gallons. But I would like opinions. I also leave lights on for 12 hours a day.

Too small of a tank for a brittle star really, and emeralds become mean but other than that it doesn't seem like too much

That would depend on the brittle type. The generatic black brittles would be fine, but a colored brittle (red, yellow, green, etc) would take up too much space. One nice thing about these stars is their tank size is very flexible.

I think the setup is fine. As long as your water parameters are incheck, you're good to go. Just try and confirm the brittle's max size, if it's a foot or less, he can stay.
